VIENNA Gay Friendly Shopping 2021

Vienna combines the coziness of village life with the openness of a cosmopolitan capital. Watch gay couples shop hand in hand in the Naschmarkt and enjoy a shopping paradise on Vienna’s longest shopping street, Mariahilfer Strasse is located right next door to the MuseumsQuartier!

Lowenherz Vienna

Lowenherz is one of the longest running independent gay book shops in Europe and deserves your attention!

Gay and Gay Friendly Stores

Anyone who has forgotten their vacation reading at home should make a trip to the gay and lesbian bookstore Löwenherz. Here you can browse for hours among thousands of books. In addition to classic and international literature, there are picture books, magazines, and DVDs. The ChickLit bookstore in the first district offers a fine assortment of feminist and lesbian literature in both German and English.

The team behind Ampelpärchen Rocks have immortalized the samesex couples featured on traffic lights which first appeared in the city to coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest: t-shirts, bags, posters, deckchairs and even traffic lights featuring the popular figures are all on sale in their shop.

Anyone looking for toys and accessories for long nights has two options: The CloneZone chain opened a branch near the Naschmarkt at the end of 2015. CloneZone is Europe’s oldest and most important gay superstore and, in addition to fashion and sportswear, offers fetish pieces and sex toys. The Spartacus XXL-Store is on Mariahilfer Straße. This store is part of a big sex shop, so it’s not for people who fear physical contact.

Mariahilfer Strasse

Mariahilfer Strasse is the main shopping thoroughfare in the city!

Shopping Streets & Department Stores

All the big chains can also be found on Mariahilfer Straße – from H&M and Zara to Peek&Cloppenburg. If you’re looking for high-end brands, you should visit the Golden Quarter: The luxury shopping mile in Vienna’s Old City, between Tuchlauben, Bognergasse, and Am Hof, hosts the exclusive flagship stores of Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, Miu Miu, Dsquared2, Prada, and Saint Laurent. From here it’s only a hop, skip, and a jump to Kärntner Straße, with its many shops.

Special treasures can be found every Saturday morning at the trendy flea market at the Naschmarkt (right next to the subway station at Kettenbrückengasse). Kitschy gems and precious individual pieces have already been unearthed here. If nothing else, the rummaging and browsing is lots of fun in itself, even if – as is usually the case at flea markets – all sorts of junk is also for sale. And finally, the traditional Café Savoy is highly recommended.

Men’s Fashion Stores

Trendy shops dedicated exclusively to men’s fashion are often hard to find. We present a number of stores where fashion-conscious men are sure to find what they’re looking for.

On Mahlerstrasse in the 1st district, near the Vienna State Opera, NEON. men fashion offers mens fashion by well-known labels: trendy shoes and bags by Hudson, smart suits and sports jackets by Drykorn, cool leans of the labels Nudie and Gabba and much more besides. For over ten years, NEON. men fashion has stood for minimalist avant-garde, italophile chic, masculine sportswear and the smart business look. The shoe and accessories area is worthy of particular attention.

Paul Vienna dresses the ‘gentlemen of creation’ in smart fashion by Armani Collezioni, Hugo Boss, Closed, Jacob Cohen and Truzzi. In particular, fans of leading Italian brands will get their money’s worth at Paul Vienna. The clothing is both sporty and elegant, with a lot of importance being placed on personal advice.

The big designer names can be found in the city center at Amicis Men. It’s the place to go for exclusive fashion by Tom Ford, Givenchy, Lanvin, Balenciaga, and Saint Laurent, to name just a few. At Amicis Men, shopping is a total experience: The elegant store on Tuchlauben is presented in the design of architect Denis Košutić, who opts for contrasts: dark glass, hard marble and polished metal meet velvet and flannel.

Cutting Edge Concept Stores

A concept store for men has moved into Taborstrasse in the 2nd district. Strictly Herrmann is the name of the store with a great shop design by Philipp Bruni, selected fashion labels, smart accessories from eyewear to bags, books, fragrances, cosmetics, gin and the latest techno gadgets.

“Pure” men’s stores can also be found in the 7th district, Vienna’s trendy quarter. The E35 Shop focuses exclusively on vintage clothing. In particular, Levi’s are represented here with authentically reproduced pants, jackets, shirts and T-shirts of the period from 1920 to 1960. Smart shoes as well as all sorts of accessories ranging from sunglasses to bags round out of the offering.

Arnold’s, also in the 7th district, specializes in streetwear: Jackets, pants, sweatshirts by Carhartt, jeans of the brand Edwin from Japan, hand-sewn Red Wing shoes and, of course, a whole bunch of accessories.

La Moustache on Kirchengasse sells sporty-elegant fashion from Italy and France. The store carries stylish shirts, pants, sports jackets, shoes, ties and even tuxedos. “Classic, but not boring,” says the owner.
